About us and how we work

Andy Prior has been a financial adviser since 1991 working within household names in the personal finance industry. He is currently working towards advanced financial planning qualifications, eventually hoping to gain Chartered Status.

Prior Knowledge was launched in July 2003 as Andy holds a strong belief that financial advice should be for the many not just the few that can afford it. Working inhouse with a specialist team at Norwich Union Andy found the 'customer number' syndrome used by the majority of banks and building societies to be impersonal and felt that there should be a better way.

Prior Knowledge continues to grow by the power of recomendation, mainly through local business groups and happy clients. Andy attends G9 Networking on a regular basis and is an active member of the local business community.

In his spare time Andy has a passion for golf, played badly, has recently taken up jogging to raise some monies for local charities in 2010 and regularly dons a suit of armour to entertain the crowds with the Swords of Chivalry.

 

How we work with our clients

We work with our clients using a 4 stage process;

Discuss

Initially we want to take stock of where you are now, look at your existing arrangements and discuss why your current plans were started to ensure that that are still relevant to your needs. During the first meeting we look at what your financial goals are, be they moving to a bigger house in the future or retiring at 50, we try to ascertain what your initial destination is so we can plan your journey.

Strategy

We then form a strategy to start the journey. Most clients cannot cover all of their financial concerns after the initial meeting and as such we work with you to prioritise the ones that are most important to you now, remembering to signpost the remainder to review in the future. This strategy is delivered via our Knowledge Report, a document that you can review and reflect upon at your leisure and use as a record to look back on in the future.

Implementation

Once priorities have been made we then implement our advice for you. We complete all the paperwork for you and submit this to the relevant providers. We manage the application processes so you can be assured of a swift outcome.

Review

After the initial plans have been put in place we agree when we are going to review actions from the first meeting and see if adjustments have to be made. We also look to see if further actions can be put into place and form a strategy based the current situation.

As our relationship with clients is an ongoing one it is important that there is continuity of advice. With this in mind we have systems in place to ensure that our clients’ needs are met.
